After breakfast, a minivan will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 07:30 am. The minivan departs at 08:00 am, starting the journey by crossing the Mekong River via a local ferry to the Xiengman side of town.

Hongsa, the enchanting town with the largest population of wild elephants in Laos, is a must-visit destination. Whether you’re a tourist or a local exploring northern Laos, Hongsa offers a warm welcome and a unique experience. Treat yourself to a delicious lunch at a cozy local restaurant and immerse yourself in the town’s vibrant atmosphere.

MUANG NGEUN

Arriving at the historic Tai Lu village of Muang Ngeun, you’ll find traditional wooden architecture and rich cultural heritage. This village is home to the venerable Wat Si Boun Yeun temple, with its rustic wooden roof. Built in 1736 to honor the craftsman Khou Ba Khamsaen, the temple’s name means “long life.” The Buddha statue dates back to 1816, and the murals illustrate Buddhist teachings and stories. Muang Ngeun was a key settlement for the Tai Lu people from Xishuangbanna in China, preserving its traditional way of life and architecture.

PHADEANG VILLAGE

Before reaching Pakbeng, we’ll take you to the enchanting village of Ban Phadeng. The minivan arrives in Pakbeng just before sunset, providing the perfect opportunity to refresh and take in the breathtaking river views. As the sun dips below the horizon, you’ll be surrounded by the tranquil beauty of nature. Later, indulge in a sumptuous Laotian dinner served at your hotel, savoring the rich flavors and warm hospitality.

DAY TWO OF THE JOURNEY

The boat sets off on the second day from Pakbeng, exploring more of the natural beauty along the legendary Mekong River, with additional stops before arriving in Luang Prabang.

A couple of hours into the day, after marveling at the majestic granite cliffs and the shimmering sandy shores, the riverboat glides to a stop at a hill tribe village along the Mekong River. Here, you can immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of traditional life, watching the villagers go about their daily routines, surrounded by the timeless beauty of the river.

LUNCH ON BOARD

Before reaching the enchanting city of Luang Prabang, the cruise makes an exciting stop opposite the mouth of the Nam Ou River, near the charming Pak Ou village. Here, you’ll visit the fascinating Tam Thing cave (Buddha Cave), also known as the Rock Cave. This remarkable site is famous for housing over 2,500 Buddha statues of all sizes and serves as a revered pilgrimage destination for locals. Immerse yourself in the spiritual ambiance and marvel at the rich cultural heritage on display.
